The
Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre plays an integral
role in Cowra ensuring services are available as needs arise
and gaps identified.

This service aims to identify and support the needs of disadvantaged
individuals, families and groups within Cowra Shire by providing
information, referral and advocacy.
In a community development role we encourage
local participation, researching and planning to meet the
needs. These functions are enhanced through the contribution
of volunteers.

Family Support
Workers help families to cope with the challenges of family
life and raising children by providing information, knowledge,
skills and access to resources.

A service covering
Cowra, Weddin and Bland, assisting people with disabilities and
their family/carer to participate in flexible respite options.
The person discusses their needs with the Service Co-Ordinator
who can offer short breaks, holidays, outings, integration into
mainstream activities, overnight respite or a combination of these.

Commonwealth
Rehabilitation Service Australia helps people with disabilities
or injury find and keep employment, and to assist employers secure
the safest work environment for their employees.
Josephite Foundation No Interest Loans Scheme

Available Wednesdays. This service aims to provide
people with a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card access
to no-interest credit up to $800 to buy essential household items.
Mission Australia
Mission Astralia
is an Individual Support Program which visits monthly.
Cowra Tax Help Service
Trained volunteers assist in the completion of Personal Taxation
Returns for people on low incomes, pensioners and those from multicultural
backgrounds.
VISTING SERVICES
Advocates for Survivors of Child Abuse

ASCA is an advocacy, education, peer support networking service
which identifies and targets the needs of survivors to heal and
integrate themselves into ordinary life.
Creditline Financial Counselling - Ph:

This is a free
counselling service if you have debt problems or cannot meet financial
payments. Highly skilled impartial advice on personal finances,
completely confidential, is available from the Centre by appointment
only. Advice on money management.
Gambling Counselling Service - Ph:

This service
visits Cowra as required. Conselling for gamblers and/or their
families. Holistic model. This service is free and confidential.

provides information about a range of community, aged care and
disability services, with the facility to put you through to the
Service you require. Visits monthly.
HACC services
cater to the needs of the frail aged, those with disabilities
and their carers within our community
Home Care Service of NSW Cowra Branch -

frail aged, people with a disability and their carers with practical
tasks such as house cleaning, laundry, shopping, personal care
and respite.

shopping, personal care and respite.

A practical
support service for the frail aged and young people with a disability.
Volunteers provide social, cemetery and hospital visits, shopping
assistance, library run, pet assistance, card or letter writing
etc.
Cowra/Grenfell Meals on Wheels Food Services
Inc. - Ph: (02) 6342 4165
Provides the
elderly, people with disabilities and their carers with daily
delivered hot and cold meals with the assistance of volunteers.
Centre based meals are provided to enhance social interaction
and frozen meals can be collected or delivered.
Home Modification Maintenance Service -
Ph: (02) 6341 1566
Provides assistance
to elderly residents, people with disabilities and carers of both.
Ramps replacing steep steps, support rails in showers and toilets,
baths replaced by flat floor showers. Labour of builder is subsidised
by Government.
Community Handymen Service -
Ph: (02) 6341 1566
Tap washers,
light bulbs and broken door screens replaced. Limited mowing (Spring
and Autumn), pruning and weeding, rubbish removed, exterior windows
cleaned. More information upon application to Co-ordinator. Government
subsidized.
Community
Transport - Ph: (02) 6342 4900
Transport is
provided to the frail aged, people with disabilities and their
carers as well as transport disadvantaged clients by volunteer
drivers. Trips are provided for medically related appointments,
shopping, or when social interaction is required. A modest contribution
is paid.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES
Telecross
This service
provides a free daily call, to bring comfort and security to the
"alone and medically at risk" folk who wish to live at home. A
back-up system should neighbours and friends be away.
Volunteer Counsellor
This service
provides counselling support, advocacy and options for people
in need and is available weekly.
Cowra Loss and Suicide Awareness
Group
This is a group
of interested community and professional people raising awareness
and educating the community about grief, loss and suicide awareness
issues. The group meets monthly at the Centre.
Multicultural Reference
Group
Volunteers
and Service Providers work together to increase awareness of and
promotion of multicultural issues, events and activities. Volunteers
also support and advocate for people as required.
Volunteer Grief and Loss Support
Volunteer support
workers compliment professional services by offering practical
and emotional support. Being available to spend time with people
who are grieving or who have suffered a loss - being able to listen.
